About
I always thought Grandma Moses began painting at 65, which inspired me to join the "painting a day" movement after retiring from my career as an author of quilting books. I started creating small plein air paintings, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I invested in a real easel and quickly fell in love with the studio.
My art is inspired by the beautiful pastures, barns, and homesteads that fill the rural landscape, as well as the stunning mountain vistas of the Tetons and Wasatch ranges. I like to call it the "Mild West."
I grew up in California in a large, creative family and now live near my grandkids in the Salt Lake Valley—who, of course, all paint as well! Every morning, I'm greeted by a breathtaking mountain and sky panorama when I open my blinds, and I can’t wait to get to the easel. As for Grandma Moses, I was mistaken—she didn’t start painting until 78 and continued until she was 101, so I’ve got plenty of time to catch up!
